Suzy Lamplugh: TV show reveals ‘new witness’ 34 years on

A TV show relating the story of London estate agent Suzy Lamplugh will this evening reveal that there is a possible new witness.

The Vanishing of Suzy Lamplugh this evening on Channel 5 is the latest show to go over the details of the agent’s last appointment with a mysterious ‘Mr Kipper’ at a viewing in west London in July 1986.

The programme also reveals that the man widely considered to be a possible murder suspect - convicted killer John Cannan - may be considered for parole in the next two years.

Cannan is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of another woman, Shirley Banks, in 1987.

Many of the surviving officers from that era - including former senior investigating officer Jim Dickie - believe Cannan is responsible for the death of 25 year old Suzy in 1986, as well. 

Cannan, who is also a convicted rapist, denies involvement in the disappearance of the agent, whose body has never been found.

She worked for Sturgis and Sons.

But Dickie tells tonight’s programme: “He should never be released ... I've got no sway over the parole board.They will make whatever decision they make. But I, certainly for one, and most police officers involved in the Lamplugh case, never want him released."

Last year the chief executive of the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, set up to commemorate the murdered estate agency, died at the age of 42. Rachel Griffin died from cancer.

The trust was established the same year that Suzy went missing by her late parents, Paul and Diana. 

It has run the National Stalking Helpline since 2010, supporting over 30,000 victims of stalking since that time.
