A PropTech firm is reporting a surge in demand for its remote ID verification software products during the virus lockdown.
The software, produced by Cardiff-based technology business Credas, will allow agencies to continue pushing forward on existing property transactions despite the branches being closed in accordance with the Coronavirus regulations.
The software allows legal due diligence, including anti-money laundering checks, to be conducted from anywhere at any time.
“For those agents working from home, we’re delighted that we can help them continue business as usual for their customers, and our team have been working hard to ensure that we could have this ready for them in a very short space of time – rolling out to 70 branches in just seven days” explains Rhys David, chief executive of Credas.
“The uptake of our remote technology – particularly in the mortgage and conveyancing offices – goes some way towards allowing the business to adapt and thrive during this otherwise very unusual time” he continues.
On top of its rapid software roll out in the property industry, Credas has seen identity verifications increase by nearly 30 per cent UK-wide in the past eight weeks as businesses move to work remotely.
“Technology like this can be a lifesaver for businesses who want to continue trading remotely and - at a time when safety is everything - digital solutions mean less need for employees to travel, less face to face contact and also the added security of having company data stored safely and securely in places like the Cloud” says David.

Proptech creating efficiencies and solutions, about the only upside from this pandemic, agents having time to realise the value of tech in their business. Maybe modern agency on a wide scale basis may now become a reality.
I do not think agents were so much anti-tech, more we have no time to validate its effectiveness or commercial use, well lockdown has changed all of that.
Do estate agents need to validate ID or simply collect the ID and make an informed decision that the ID is real?
