Agents Do Charity - the latest long weekend version…

It’s another Bank Holiday weekend and the first since lockdown was eased and the housing market returns - so perhaps a chance for new buyers and vendors to emerge from the shadows.

In the meantime, agents and suppliers in our industry have been showing their very best once again doing the fund-raising work we highlight here.

You can feature, too, as soon as next Friday if you let us know what you’re doing by emailing press@estateagenttoday.co.uk. Thank you in advance.

NHS Covid-19 Appeal: Progressive Property, a property training and education company based in Peterborough, set the ambitious goal of reaching £20,000 in just two weeks - and smashed it!

The company’s Rob Moore tells us: “Together we have raised an amazing £20,165 from 404 incredible supporters. I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated - we know it is a hard time for everyone, but by pulling together we have shown how much of a strong community we have.

“Unfortunately, some of our team have witnessed the devastating effects of this pandemic including my co-founder and co-director, Mark Homer, who has sadly lost a loved one due to Corona. Like many, we are all in awe of the NHS now more than ever, and we want to help the local community as much as we can, as we have always pledged to do. So once again, thank you to the NHS, and thank you to those of you who donated to such a worthy cause.”

Bravo - everyone at EAT echoes those thanks.

NHS Staff and carers: As a thank you to the incredible National Health Service staff and carers, the Balgores team are offering no fees on any mortgage or remortgage they arrange for the remainder of 2020.

Financial services business principal Adrian Whitten says: “We understand that many NHS workers will have unusual shift patterns, but our team are more than happy to work with you on times that suit your schedule. We can give full advice and assistance via the phone or video call to make it even easier.”

To recognise the struggles of the wider community at this time, the team are also offering food parcels to vulnerable people.

Daniel Hanks from Balgores Property Group explains: “[We] are sending pantry boxes to the most vulnerable people in our local towns and villages ensuring that they have food in their cupboards during these uncertain times. Should you know of any vulnerable people in the towns we trade in please email daniel@balgoreslettings.com their details and we will arrange for a Balgores pantry box to be delivered as soon as possible.”

Promise Dreams: Sally Lawson, who runs Agent Rainmaker, has turned her team’s to setting up an online summit called the Pivot Your Business Summit 2020 with all profits going to Promise Dreams a small but hugely worthwhile charity based in Wolverhampton.

The event ran from May 14 to 16 with over 24 speakings; over 100 people signed up, and £7,120 was raised in the process.

Fine & Country Foundation: The foundation has announced the 17 charities which will be allocated funding in its most recent round of grants.

After extending the application deadline to the end of April, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, a record number of organisations applied for grants of up to £3,000.

Charitable projects from York to Zimbabwe have been successful, with several grants being awarded to projects focused on relieving the immediate impacts on the homeless community during the current pandemic.

Emilie Despois, head of marketing, says: “Since the Foundation’s inception, we have donated over £500,000 to superb causes both in UK and around the world. We look forward to building on this success, with the goal of raising £1,000,000 for homeless charities.”

Applications for the Autumn Grant Scheme will be accepted from October 1.
