Do only one-in-three agents really want to work as before?

The second part of a survey which has already thrown up shock results has been launched with an appeal for agents across the industry to take part.

Recruitment company Rayner Personnel last month asked whether agents wanted to continue working as before once the Coronavirus crisis ended. 

The result at the time was something of a shock - only 33 per cent of the 6,500 agents who responded wanted to return to working the same way.

Some 22 per cent said they enjoyed working from home because of the freedom and flexibility it afforded them; while another 14 per cent were concerned about job security having had a position they thought was secure - for them a jump to self-employment and potentially bigger earnings was no longer a daunting prospect, the survey suggested.

Now part two of the survey wants to see if attitudes have changed in the light of the continuation of the pandemic, the guidance - such as it is - from government to agents, and the growing expectation that the virus crisis will be a ‘long haul’.

The latest survey - which you can see here - will run for another six days and remains anonymous for participants.

According to Joshua Rayner the second survey means “we can start to better evaluate and share whether there is a difference in agent attitude dependent upon whether from within a corporate, at an online agent or working for an independent. Context is important in understanding where attitudes are right now and how they are changing. Pulse, as we’re terming our survey, is literally that – a finger on the pulse of the industry.”  

Rayner says that in the future he will conduct similar periodic health checks and collaborate with thought leaders both within and outside of the industry to help find solutions to the challenges we all face ahead.”
