The Welsh housing market is back in business today - at least in part.
Letting and estate agents can reopen their offices and the Welsh Government’s five-mile Coronavirus travel restrictions are lifted for the property sector, allowing agents as well as buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants to travel freely so long as it is for reasons connected with the industry.
Specifically:
- house moves can go ahead where the residential property has been unoccupied for at least 72 hours;
- house moves can take place where a sale has been agreed but not yet completed;
- the marketing and viewing of unoccupied residential property can take place (but not occupied property);
- valuations and inspections of occupied residential property are allowed but should be done so within Welsh Government social distancing and hygiene guidelines;
- occupied properties can now be prepared for marketing but cannot have viewings until restrictions are lifted further. A further review is expected on July 9.
Last week it was announced that the Scottish housing market would resume largely as normal - albeit with social distancing - from June 29, that’s next Monday.
