TODAY'S OTHER NEWS

Agents’ biggest challenges now are handling instructions in ‘new normal’

A survey of estate agents conducted through trade publications has revealed that market uncertainty and the handling of transactions within government restrictions are the biggest challenges facing the industry.

Last week Estate Agent Today was amongst trade titles conducting the survey for the new foundation Agents Together, created by the founders of Purplebricks, Michael and Kenny Bruce.

Some 50 per cent of the respondents expressed concern about the uncertainty facing the industry, with 43 per cent worried about handling a growth in transaction numbers and 30 per cent specifically concerned about how to operate social distancing.

Over 65 per cent of respondents said they would access the free mentoring scheme being promoted by the foundation for advice and training.

When asked about mental wellbeing, some 48 per cent of respondents said it was now a key issue for the industry.

Despite the two-month industry shutdown imposed by the government, some 64 per cent of agents were ‘optimistic’ or ‘very optimistic’ about the future.

  • Welsh Cynic

We are still waiting for the Welsh Government to give Agents the chance to operate and start to deal with the deluge of, increasingly frustrated, enquirers. We were fulfilling the safety guidelines, well before the lock down, so when are we going to be able to operate again, alongside Agents in England, who have been able to work for 3 weeks now?
