National Crime Agency officers working as part of a Paramilitary Crime Task Force have searched a home in Belfast and have served a Property Freezing Order stopping three properties in the city from being sold.
Following the search, during which mobile devices, documentation and a quantity of cash was seized for further investigation, and the PFO served on the three west Belfast homes.
The order prevents anyone from selling or dissipating the value of the properties while the investigation continues.
NCA senior manager Billy Beattie says: “The NCA, along with our partners in the PCTF, is committed to ensuring that property obtained with the proceeds of unlawful conduct will not remain in the hands of those committing criminal acts.
“Our investigation into the source of funds used to purchase these three properties will continue with the material seized during the search.”
Last year the NCA issued PFOs on three ultra-high-value London properties which could not be sold while a money laundering investigation was conducted.
The houses were not identified but were most recently purchased for over £80m each and were held by offshore companies.
