An open verdict has been returned on the death of an estate agent whose body was spotted just 10 metres away from where her clothes had been found two weeks earlier.
Harpreet Gill, from Taplow in Buckinghamshire, was reported missing on March 1.
Two days later, on March 3, clothes and shoes were found on a nearby river bank by a runner, who informed the police.
However, Harpreet’s body was not discovered until a kayaker was in the river at roughly the same spot on March 18.
In a statement read out at the inquest, and reported by the Slough Observer, the kayaker said she paddled over and realised it was a person when she saw a tee shirt.
The newspaper adds that a post mortem revealed Harpreet, 35, had died from drowning; she was separated from her husband and Bucks coroner Crispin Butler said that notebooks found at her home had contained expressions of sorrow.
Returning an open verdict he said: "We will never know the answer to how she came to be on that stretch of river .... I don't want to speculate on what her thought processes were."
