Fine & Country Foundation: Let’s start today with a short throwback to just before Christmas when the Fine & Country Foundation hosted its annual carol concert called Carols for Causes.
The event was hosted virtually on Facebook Live for free with friends, family and loved ones able to join in on the evening’s festivities from all corners of the world, for a truly international event with casrols performed by Bishop’s Stortford Upper Sixth Choir.
The carols were interspersed with testimonials from charities which were awarded grants by the Fine & Country Foundation during 2020, helping in one of the most challenging years ever faced by the charitable sector.
The evening came to a climactic crescendo with a performance from the Ndlovu Youth Choir from Limpopo, South Africa, who appeared on season 14 of America’s Got Talent. Their energetic renditions of ‘Higher Love’ and ‘All I Want for Christmas’ were the perfect, up-lifting end to the concert - and the year.
The event has raised over £3,000 so far.
Jon Cooke, trustee of the foundation, says: “Although this year has been unfamiliar in so many different ways, as a global community, we are more connected than ever before and with this in mind, tonight was made possible.”

Zarach: Leeds-based estate agent Manning Stainton has donated £900 to a children’s charity, Zarach, to provide beds for children across the city who don’t currently have them.
In Leeds, 20 per cent of all dependent children are living in relative poverty, with many not having a bed to sleep in or enough food to eat to sustain their concentration at school. Zarach aims to help these children go from surviving to thriving by proving beds, bedding and food to ensure they can eat, sleep and learn.
The donation from Manning Stainton will fund six bedding bundles, each comprising a single bed, a mattress, sheets, a duvet, a pillow, a duvet set, pyjamas and a hygiene pack.
Mark Manning, managing director, says:“Every single child should have a bed to sleep in and it’s devastating that there are children across Leeds who don’t. Zarach is a fantastic charity that’s dedicated to helping children escape the cycle of poverty by providing the basics they need to be able to thrive, and we’re delighted to have been able to partner with them this Christmas to fund six much needed bedding bundles.”
