Foxtons has written to the ‘legal owner’ of part of the Tower of London, offering to value the property for a possible sale.
The Wapping office of the controversial agency, known for its aggressive marketing techniques, wrote a prospecting letter addressed to ‘Legal Owner, 22 The Casements, The Tower of London, Tower Hill, London EC3N 4AB’.
The letter claimed the agency’s representatives would be ‘in your area next week’ and would be happy to conduct a market appraisal and valuation - in line with Covid protocols of course.
A Beefeater at the Tower, who opened the letter, tweeted a picture of the pitch and commented: “Thanks for the very kind offer @foxtons to sell or rent out the 12th century property that HM Tower of London provide me with, however, I think it may raise a few eyebrows when your sign appears outside my house.”
The Tower of London is of course owned by HM The Queen; it is no longer a Royal residence.
