An online intelligence platform has started ranking agencies in terms of their SEO and Google searches.
The platform - Industry Alerts, which describes itself as a business-to-business competitor intelligence tool - monitors UK wide estate agency rankings plus those in London, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds.
In the capital, Winkworth and Dexters currently fight for first place closely followed by Ellisons.
The platform says Reeds Rains dominates the search results in Manchester, followed by Hunters. Meanwhile, in Birmingham Dixons, LV Property and Glovers battle it out at the top of the rankings.
And in Scotland EXP, Savills, Slater Hogg and The Estate Agency Company fight for top spot in Glasgow.
Industry Alerts also says Hunters is the only agency to rank in the top three in two of the UK's five major cities; it is currently leading the pack in Leeds.
This research also identifies what it calls “under-performers in the rankings relative to their size and spend.” And this includes agencies and other property-related sites.
Platform founder Michael Beer says: “For example, Purplebricks and Get Agent rarely rank on the first page of Google according to this research, but they are the most dominant advertisers on Google nationwide.”
Beer continues: “Currently two to three estate agents in each of the UK's major cities dominate the rankings on Google. For estate agents who are currently lower down the rankings, this should stress the value of implementing SEO strategies to climb higher up both the organic rankings and the map pack rankings. It also underlines the need to maintain a positive reputation on comparison websites, such as Three Best Rated and Yell.”
