Agents Do Charity… on the weekend we remember…

It’s Remembrance weekend, and on Sunday at least we fall silent to honour those who gave so much for many generations.

Agents Giving Christmas Stocking Campaign: This winter Agents Giving is running another Christmas Food Bank Appeal continuing the support of local Trussell Trust and other local food banks. Between April 2020 and March 2021, food banks in the UK distributed 2.5m emergency food parcels to people in crisis, a 33 per cent increase on the previous year - and 980,000 of these went to children.

You can help extend the spirit of Christmas by filling a stocking with some sweet treats to make a difference to local families who need support over Christmas.

These are the items the food banks need to provide an extra helping hand: Boxes of chocolates; Selection boxes; Chocolate oranges; Tubes of sweets; Hanging chocolates for the tree; Christmas crackers; Chocolate coins; Christmas cakes and bars; Christmas biscuits and Christmas puddings.

Please collect what you can in your office, ask your local community and other local businesses to support you, and donate the items to your local food bank.

East and North Herts NHS Trust: Walter Cooper, an independent land agency based in Ware, has donated £10,000 worth of professional development to staff at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.

The bursary is open to all staff – clinical, non-clinical, administration, facilities or any support staff – and may go to one candidate or divided between several. The donation is a result of Walter Cooper’s partnership with the East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity, which raises funds for Hertford County Hospital, Lister Hospital in Stevenage, Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood and the New QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City.

Simon Cox, managing director of Walter Cooper, says: “I got involved with the hospitals’ charity during the peak of the pandemic, helping to provide boost boxes to our local NHS staff who were dealing with this major crisis. After that, I wanted to do something more to help – something that would have a more far-reaching legacy – so I came up with idea of the bursary.

“I want to make a real difference. I hope the bursary will help people who have ambitions to further their career, but who might have previously dismissed the idea because of cost or childcare commitments. If I can help them, they can go on to help many others.”

Hurst Green Primary School, Halesowen: The Property Guy, AKA local agent Aaron Tonks, will be distributing toys to children on Thursday December 16 at this school and is looking for donations to add to the swag bag.

Aaron, who lived on his own from the age of 14, runs his agency from his home and says it’s important to him to be generous to those in need at Christmas. “When I was a teenager I lived on my own - at Christmas it was just me. I'm also an ex-prison officer so I have seen people at their most vulnerable and people not being able to be with their loved ones” he has told the Halesowen News.
