Purplebricks rated as only 10th best online agency

Purplebricks has been rated as only the 10th best online agency in the country in a controversial new league table.

The list has been drawn up by a comparison service called Onlineagentpicker - the same service which only three months ago said Purplebricks was the brand with by far the largest share of the online agency market.

The new league table has been drawn up by the service collating reviews from two sources - Trustpilot and allAgents.

The former has been in the news for what many see as a surprisingly big volume of high-rated reviews for Purplebricks; the latter was involved in a lengthy dispute with Purplebricks some years ago, and carries generally poor reviews of the agency.

“We're using two review sources, allAgents and Trustpilot, but that may well be expanded in the future which could markedly alter the rankings” explains Onlineagentpicker. 

“The rankings are automated, so they will change as the agents receive reviews on allAgents and Trustpilot.”

Under the current rankings, compiled yesterday, Yopa is regarded as the best agency according to its reviews from those two sources, followed by EweMove and then Strike (formerly HouseSimple). 

Fourth spot is occupied by Doorsteps followed by Sellmyhome, Emoov, Iamtheagent, 99Home, Springbok Properties and then Purplebricks.

The online review service Feefo last month gave Purplebricks the high ‘platinum’ status in its own rankings of reviews because it “excelled despite the massive challenges of the pandemic.” 

In October Onlineagentpicker published a league table of market share for the major online services. 

Calculating its figures by using the number of active agency listings - properties marked as SSTC are not included in the calculation - at that time, the clear leader in the online community was Purplebricks on 50.89 per cent.

Then comes Strike on 13.61 per cent, followed by Yopa on 11.1 per cent and Express Letting Agency on 7.82 per cent.
