A business that calls itself the UK’s first 24/7 home-based estate agency has announced a new franchisee.
Dorset-based Meyers Estate Agents was set up seven years ago and earlier this year declared that it wanted to expand its franchised network across the UK.
Now Jon Williams - already a self-employed agent following three decades of experience in High Street offices - has purchased the Meyers franchise for Weymouth.
Brand founder Mark Meyer says: “Jon joined us at our head office hub a year ago and over that time he has taken on and embodied our brand values and strengthened his connections with the local community in Weymouth where he has lived and worked for most of his life.
“We are proud of how he has now invested in his faith in the Meyers’ brand by taking on a franchise of his own and we are looking forward to continuing to support him as he grows and develops his business in the future.”
Williams himself says: “I have more than 30 years’ estate agency experience working for brands including Mann & Co, Palmer Snell, Connells and Humberts all in and around Dorset. I was aware of Meyers and admired the company’s marketing but wasn’t quite sure how they had become so successful.”
He says most commissions in his new role comes from word-of-mouth recommendations. "I had never seen an opportunity locally to run my own estate agency business before, so am very thankful to Mark and the team for this chance to progress my own career and at the same time, provide a highly personalised service to clients looking to buy or sell.”
Meyers says it’s instructed over £1.3 billion worth of property since it was set up as a franchised business in 2003, and states it has other home-based franchise opportunities available in various locations.
All Meyers franchisees are obliged to work with a local charity of their choice and a proportion of the network's profits go to mental health charity Mind.
In the past year Williams has completed a 500k walk raising £3,150 for the Weymouth Food Bank and has pledged to donate a further £50 for each personal property completion in 2021.
