Late last year Hamptons launched ‘Relay around the World’… a fundraising initiative to raise money for Cancer Research’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign.
The agency pledged to collectively travel 24,901 miles, the same distance it would take to travel around the world - five months later it’s completed the challenge!
- As a business it travelled over 27,000 miles, exceeding the 24,901 round the world target;
- It raised just under £5,000 for Cancer Research UK;
- In their efforts to reach the target Hamptons employees walked, ran, cycled, scooted, rode and even swam in open waters.
Top performers were Shona Fraser, head of lettings in Teddington who travelled 2,050 miles through a mix of dog walking, running and cycling; Simon Wood, lettings and management services director, who travelled 2,004 miles by bike; and Simon Jordan, area sales director in Guildford – 1,798 miles also by bike.
Lesley Cairns, the agency’s managing director, says: “I can’t begin to share how heart-warming it has been to be a part of such an uplifting event through what has been a really difficult time. We’ve seen families out together walking, jogging and cycling all with the aim of attributing miles to our overall target. Above all, the ‘Relay round the World’ has given us an amazing opportunity to unify the business during a time where we have all been kept apart from each other.
“Cancer Research UK is a charity that sits close to our hearts and we will continue to dedicate our time and support and look forward to further fundraisers in the future.”
** This Easter, Estate Agent Today and Letting Agent Today are saluting those in our industry who raise money for others. It’s a small way of saying ‘thank you’. Our normal news stories resume on Tuesday April 6 - so in the meantime, respect to all fund-raisers!
