Jackson-Stops is putting the final touches to a new franchise offering for agents.
The agency brand is planning to launch a franchise proposition that will run alongside its current consortium model.
Currently, Jackson-Stops offers agents the opportunity to own a territory.
There is no fixed price for this as it depends where the area is, the size of the territory and the housing stock.
But speaking exclusively to Estate Agent Today, chairman of Jackson Stops Nick Leeming, said there has been a change in the mood of the market.
A franchise model is now being worked on with fees of 5% plus additional charges for group costs.
He said: “There has been a change in risk appetite from the market, with agents less willing to pay an upfront sum for a territory.”
Leeming said a franchise arrangement has more certainty for agents and they can see where their money is going.
He added that this could appeal to agents who are fed up with the red tape of corporates and those who want to be independent and have the “flexibility of being their own masters.”
The franchise offering is set to launch later this year and is in the penultimate stages of being finalised.
