Regional agent marks record month for home moves

Worcestershire estate agent Nicol & Co is celebrating its “busiest month ever” for house moves.

It has reported 26 completions in Droitwich Spa for September.

The record-breaking figure comes after sales worth a total of £8.5m  completed following the summer holidays.

All 26 of the moves involved properties in the Droitwich area and crucially came in time for families with children to start at their new schools.

Coralie Walrond, sales manager at Nicol & Co’s Droitwich office, attributed the increase to conveyancers returning from their summer breaks.

She said: “We had the busiest month ever for house moves in September, breaking our own record with a total of 26.

“One of the reasons for this was the fact that the conveyancing process is often slower over the summer period due to solicitors’ annual leave.

“But when September came and legal firms’ staffing levels returned to normal, things started happening in abundance with many of the sales we were pushing for coming to completion.

“There were a couple of families that needed to be in their new homes before school term started and others who wanted to be in and settled well in advance of Christmas.

“The needs of our customers drove our persistence in coordinating chains and regularly speaking with solicitors to speed completion of the transactions which resulted in such a busy month.”

She said many of the homes sold for above asking price, adding: “We pride ourselves on delivering a great service to all our customers, and this often means continuing to chase all parties involved in every sale or purchase to ensure people can make their important moves as planned.”
