The online agency brand eXp UK claims it’s growing at an industry leading pace - and it puts it all down to its self-employed agents.
Online agency veteran Adam Day set up online firm Hatched in the early era of internet agencies, and went on to become an executive at another online firm easyProperty; now he leads eXp UK, this country’s version of the US agency.
It operates using a remote network of experienced property agents, each of which operates his or her own personal brand.
It has 250 self-employed estate agents signed up to its platform as a result of what he describes as a surge in interest over the past two years.
Now it has come out with data from estate agency business consultancy TwentyEA saying that eXp UK saw growth of over 242 per cent in sales agreed in 2021 compared to 2020 - over three times the volume of growth in comparison to the nearest competitor.
It also claims to have seen growth of 172 per cent in that period for number of instructions, the leading rate in the top 50 analysed by twentyEA.
The increase in eXp’s agency numbers in the UK during the same period was 69 per cent.
Day - who goes under the title eXp UK International Expansion Leader - says: “I’m confident the market share growth we’re experiencing is down to the quality of agent we’re bringing on board, all of which must have a minimum of two years’ experience.
“By focusing on bringing in ambitious, dedicated and talented agents and giving them all the support and tools they need to build their own personal brands to be successful, the agents are able to deliver a much more personalised, tailored experience to the client.
“The overwhelming feedback from eXp UK agents is that the autonomy they have over their business, as well as the time they’re able to dedicate to each client is a major element of their success. We’re looking to continue growing at this rate and look forward to working with new self-employed personal agents powered by eXp UK.”

I've written before about the numbers behind eXp UK. Just search "Where is the Monii Money".
With a hint of narcissism, the "eXp UK International Expansion Leader" has clearly taken delivery of the Emperor's new clothes and splashed on a bit of snake oil! There is the inherent danger that might start to believe his own hype!
Rather than extrapolating the numbers with a good dose of massage oil, I challenge Adam Day to publish the actual data in rank order for ALL the eXp UK estate agents so the grown-ups in the room can see and appreciate the actual numbers.
The good news for those agents who have signed up to eXp UK is that there are various miss-selling laws that should cover you...
As an eXp agent, my operating profit for year 2 stands at £135,077 plus a salary of £12,000 so my income for the year pre-personal taxation is circa £145,000.
Many agents here earn more than me, currently, I am operating outside of the top 50 pipelines.
If that helps.
