Agents encouraged to go green this Friday for climate change awareness

Estate agents are being encouraged to go green this Friday to raise awareness for the upcoming World Earth Day.

Jerry Lyons who runs the Estate Agent Content Club (EACC) is suggesting that agents wear something green to support the global environmental awareness event.

This World Earth Day will mark 50 years that its organisers have been urging people to combat climate change and educating the public on ways to create a sustainable future.

Lyons says: “We can all do our bit to battle climate change.

From what I’m seeing estate agencies are going in the right direction in terms of how they operate and their environmental policies.

“Something as simple as wearing something green on World Earth Day can get people thinking about ways they can adapt their lifestyles to live more sustainable and environmentally friendly lives.

“It’s a massive issue that dwarfs any local rivalries between agencies and one which we can pull together as an industry and a society to try to turn the tide before it’s too late.”

To help agents do their bit, the EACC is offering a free marketing pack including a templated article, editable images and a 10-point sustainability support sheet to any agents who want to get involved.

Some agents are already making efforts to go green.

Taylor Gibbs, an independent north London estate agency has ditched its cars in favour of electric bikes to conduct viewings.

The decision was spurred on by wanting to adapt a more environmentally friendly mode of transport and staff decided to look beyond electric cars and go further by choosing to cycle as their primary mode of transport.

Zia Taylor, director of Taylor Gibbs, says: “We are all keen to be more eco-friendly and the move to use electric bikes to carry out our viewings was welcomed by all the staff at Taylor Gibbs.

“Eager to move towards being as environmentally aware as possible we are all excited about this transition.

“E-Bikes won’t entirely replace car trips, but it is safe to say they will reduce costs and the time staff take to commute to appointments, it is good business sense as well coupled with green benefits.  Reducing pollution and traffic congestion along with the health benefits are a few of the many advantages of making this change.”
