Foxtons is rumoured to have raided London rival Chestertons for its chief executive Guy Gittins.
Estate Agent Today revealed on Friday that Gittins had mysteriously quit Chestertons.
It is now being reported by Sky News that Gittins has been recruited to replace current Foxtons boss Nic Budden.
Sky News reports that the appointment represents another step in chairman Nigel Rich's efforts to improve Foxtons' performance after a slump in its share price.
Gittins has been chief executive of Chestertons brand since 2018 but had joined as sales director in 2012.
No reason was given for his departure expect that he is pursuing a new challenge.
Chestertons has appointed with immediate effect Richard Davies, its long-serving head of lettings, as interim managing director until a permanent replacement for Guy is found.
