Agents have shown their support for helping junior staff with the cost of living crisis.
The rate of inflation hit 9.4% during June while wage growth lags behind.
This can make it harder for staff at the start of their careers and low earners to put money aside and many may struggle to pay the bills.
Property recruitment firm deverellsmith and its outsourcing talent arm Hintel launched a report earlier this month recognising that matching and increasing pay to inflation is difficult for most employers, but said there are other steps bosses can take to help staff cope with the rising cost of living.
Estate agents have agreed with the concept of helping staff with rising bills.
A poll on the Estate Agent Today LinkedIn page last week asked, should it be down to estate agency bosses to help junior staff with the cost-of-living crisis?
Two thirds (68%) said yes and 32% said no.
Respondents didn’t go into detail about what support they could offer.
But the deverellsmith and Hintel report suggests letting staff work from home one day per week or to have flexible policies that let employees travel at off peak times to reduce commuting costs.
Other suggestions include attractive office facilities such as a decent coffee machine so staff can cutback on takeaway beverages as well as social events, training and clear career progression.
