Agents Do Charity - getting high for a good cause

It was a relatively quiet week for fundraising by agents and property professionals but no less important and inspirational.

If there are charitable endeavours you think the rest of the industry should know about, please email us on press@estateagenttoday.co.uk, or get in touch via our social platforms, and we’ll do the rest.

Marchand Petit: Devon-based agent Marchand Petit has launched a new Trees for Completion initiative in partnership with Moor Trees.

Working with the Dartington-based charity, Marchand Petit will be planting a tree for every property sale completed from 1 September 2022, helping to restore hundreds more trees each year into native woodland in South Devon and on Dartmoor.

The agency said in a statement: “Trees for Completion marks the next step in our renewed focus on becoming a more sustainable business and one which protects the beautiful region we’re so lucky to not only sell, but to call home too.

“We have already made the move from traditional sales boards to carbon neutral eco boards, shunned the more traditional plastic merchandise like keyrings and pens, and opted for recycled and recyclable paper for our print magazine.

“Trees for Completion is another step towards doing our bit to take care of both the local region and the planet more generally.”

Moor Trees collect tens of thousands of local tree seeds each year, nurturing them in community tree nurseries in Dartington and South Brent, before planting them as new woodland.Since founded in 2001, the charity has planted more than 100,000 trees on Dartmoor and in South Devon.

Spicerhaart: Spicerhaart agency staff have thrown themselves into a fundraising event, raising more than £11,600 for children’s charity Magic Moments with a sky dive.

The 17-strong group enjoyed a glorious summer’s day at the end of August with the North London Skydiving team based at Chatteris Airfield in Cambridgeshire learning how to undertake a tandem jump safely before embarking on the intrepid feat.

They could choose to jump from between 12,000 to 15,000 feet from the De Havilland Twin Otter plane.

Pippa Major, operations manager at Spicerhaart, said: “It was the most amazing day.

“Falling through the air from 15,000 feet at 125mph is one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever known.

“We were in freefall for 60 seconds before the chute was released and in freefall for another five minutes and it was so peaceful.

“There’s also a real sense of relief when everyone has landed safely.

“There was so much excitement and anticipation thought the day, but also a sense of teamwork, knowing we were all there to raise money for such a great cause. In fact, it was such a success we will now be making the Magic Moments skydive an annual event.”

Magic Moments is Spicerhaart’s children’s charity.

It takes children with life limiting illnesses and their families to Disneyland Paris ever year, supporting 13 children’s hospices across the UK.

Chair of the Magic Moments charity, Emma Barber, said: “We are so grateful to everybody that took part in this incredible challenge, and also to everyone who sponsored and supported this event. Without the generosity of our Spicerhaart family and friends, we would not be able to take the families who are going through the hospice journey to Disneyland Paris to make new special memories.”

Agents Giving: Property professionals helped raise around £13,000 at the annual Agents Giving Charity Golf Day last week.

Agents swung into action at Morley Hayes and the atmosphere was buzzing on the course with teams enjoying the challenges of the fairways, the sunshine and as always, the refreshments trolley.

The golf was followed by drinks a three-course dinner, raffle and charity auction.
