Agents do Charity - keeping active to raise vital funds

From golf swings, to running and rowing, there is an active theme to this week's fundraising exploits.

If there are charitable endeavours you think the rest of the industry should know about, please email us on press@estateagenttoday.co.uk, or get in touch via our social platforms, and we’ll do the rest.

Seymours: Surrey based independent estate agent Seymours recently welcomed 60 players in 15 teams competing for a charity fundraiser at West Byfleet Golf Club in aid of Woking & Sam Beare Hospices.

The event helped raise £14,000 and saw Surrey's most prominent property professionals and property developers participate in a golf tournament.

Evening entertainment was in the form of a charity auction hosted by guest speaker Nick Fry, non-executive chairman at McLaren Applied.

Preparation varied from practice swings to limbering up with a beverage or two before play started.

Talking after the event, partner John Ferrucci wanted to thank everyone for their support and express what a great day was had by everyone attending, including all the Seymours staff playing and those behind the scenes that put so much work in organising such a high profile fundraising event.

The winners were:
· Individual ladies: Claire Goodberry
· Individual winner men: James Devane
· Winning Team - Peacock Construction (Martin Ewins, James Devane, Simon Jones and Aaron Power)
· Nearest to the pin – Aaron Power and Ashleigh McCabe
· Longest Drive – Paddy Hewitt and Tom Hawkin

Commenting on behalf of Woking & Sam Beare Hospices, Lucy McNally said: “We are blown away by the support of Seymours, to raise this much money really shows their commitment to our cause and we're not only grateful for the donation but also the awareness and connection to the communities we're developing with this relationship.”

Strutt & Parker: A director at Strutt & Parker has raised £2,000 after rowing 144 miles from Lechlade-on-Thames to London in aid of Mind and FOPPS (Friends of Pangbourne Primary School).

Tom Waltham, senior associate director at Strutt & Parker, took part in the event despite having no rowing experience.

He had been training since May for a five-day journey,  including a fundraising event at his second day stop-off point on Pangbourne Meadow.

Fry Estate Agents: Bedfordshire-based estate agent Michael Fry is to run the London Marathon next month to raise money for the Sue Ryder charity.

Fry, who runs independent brand Fry Estate Agents, is looking to raise £3,000 and to honour family members who have been helped by the organisation.

He wrote on his JustGiving page: “Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.

“A fantastic charity that helped our family through a difficult time, their love and support during my grandfather’s illness was unforgettable. I want to give back and raise as much as possible to help many others in the future.

This run is also dedicated for all those that we have sadly lost recently in particular my nan and my uncle.”
