Property industry pays tribute to the Queen

Agents and property professionals paid tribute to the Queen last night after Buckingham Palace announced she had passed away.

Readers were celebrating Her Majesty’s record 70-year reign by sharing pictures of Platinum Jubilee-themed branch window displays just months ago but the mood has turned more sombre following her death.

Just as the nation came together to celebrate the Queen earlier this year, people are again joining together in mourning and paying their respects.

Nathan Emerson, chief executive of agency trade body Propertymark, said: “It is incredibly sad to learn of the death of The Queen.  

“In her 70 years on the throne she has seen an incredible amount of social, political and economic change, most recently receiving her fifteenth Prime Minister. As well as serving as the head of her country, she was the head of her family and our thoughts are with them in her loss.”

Gary Hersham, founding director of Beauchamp Estates, said: “As the world mourns the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, we at Beauchamp Estates remember Her Majesty’s remarkable life and reign. 

“She will forever be remembered for her strong sense of duty and the selfless way in which she dedicated her life to her people and her throne. 

"Queen Elizabeth II was the United Kingdom’s longest reigning monarch having served the United Kingdom and the Commonweath for 70 years and will be profoundly missed by us all. It is a moment of great solemnity and sadness.”

Rob Hailstone, chief executive of the Bold Legal Group, added: “Even though I am not of the war generation, the news that has broken about the Queen has knocked the stuffing out of me. 

“Born in the same year as my mum, who passed three years ago, I feel as though I, indeed the country, have lost a second mother. We are a very lucky generation to have had her as our Queen. Thank you for you service ma’am. Thoughts are with her family.”

Paul Smith, chief executive of Spicerhaart, said: “We join the nation, and indeed the world, in grieving our monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, who has served our country so graciously for 70 years.

"We are very lucky, as a country, to have had such an amazing, hard-working Queen who put her country before self and we can learn many lessons from her selfless behaviour and support of others throughout her whole life.”

A statement from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, for which her Majesty was Patron, said: “We would like to express our deepest sadness and condolences at the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“Ruling for longer than any Monarch in British history, her lifelong devotion and commitment to public service as Sovereign for the UK and Commonwealth will never be forgotten.

“Having just celebrated her Platinum Jubilee earlier this year, the public were reminded of her selfless commitment to her role as both a unifying and steadfast figurehead throughout seven decades of change.”

Her Majesty the Queen was the longest serving patron of RICS.

She visited the RICS London Headquarters to mark its 150-year celebration in 2018. 

The statement added: “During her visit, the Queen toured the building and met members of the profession – a truly momentous occasion for all involved. Her presence on this day and her unwavering commitment to her RICS patronage will remain a special and important part of our history.

“Our heartfelt sympathies lie with the Royal Family at this time of mourning.”
