An eXp UK agent has highlighted the importance of personal branding and his own beard in securing property sales.
Ben Moore, who joined eXp UK three years ago and is better known on social media as “the one with the beard”, has looked back on the first commission he earned with the self-employed agency brand.
He told Estate Agent Today: “My first referral was a property in Newcastle, which is the other side to the country for me as I live on the coast of the North West of England.

“I drove across, got the client signed up and did a great job with the marketing.
“It was my first ever presenter-led video tour and everything built from there.”
The flat was worth £50,000 and Ben earned a fixed fee of £3,000 plus VAT.
He said he has managed to increase his fees since then, adding: “A lot of the time people come in and are thinking about the commissions and shiny houses, but when you are finding your feet you just need to do the best job with what you can get.
“I used my ability as an agent to promote the property.
“We did a lot of research and looked at comparable data.
“The sellers were taken aback by approach to marketing, their agent was sleeping on the job with no floorplan and little thought on the pictures, while phone calls weren’t being returned.
“I came along with enthusiasm, vision and energy that was refreshing to the client.”
Putting together video and social media content for a £50,000 flat was a good example to showcase his skills, Moore said, adding: “If I can do this for a one-bed flat, imagine what I can do for your two bed terrace or barn conversion.
“That kind of content has helped me progress up the value ladder and the fees went up with that.”
