Annual Winter Coat Drive: For the tenth consecutive year, London estate agency Chestertons is turning its network of over 30 branches across London into collection points where the public can donate unwanted coats, fleeces and gilets until November 20 for its annual Coat Drive.
In partnership with the Calling London charity, Chestertons is aiming to collect 5,000 warm winter coats and jackets, which will then be distributed to vulnerable Londoners. Last year alone, Chestertons received over 4,000 donations and, since first supporting the initiative in 2013, has collected an astonishing total of 20,000 winter garments.
Once the Coat Drive ends on November 20, donations are taken to a sorting centre before being distributed to over 30 charities helping the homeless, victims of domestic abuse, those living in poverty, the elderly, refugees and children.
Chestertons is now urging people to drop their unwanted winter items to any of its branches and to find your nearest office, please visit https://www.chestertons.co.uk/en-gb/network/
Bug Homes! - Oakwood Homes estate agents has joined forces with Broadstairs Town Shed by commissioning 50 bug homes to be built from up-cycled materials, to donate to local primary schools.
Oakwood Homes – winner of the ‘most sustainable agent in the UK’ award - commissioned Broadstairs Town Shed as part of its sustainable project for 2023.
All local primary schools have been supplied with a bug home to introduce into forest school areas for children to watch, learn and understand the roles different insects and bugs play in the circle of life.
Natalie Wyborn, who heads up the Oakwood Homes sustainability team, says: “We are thrilled that Broadstairs Town Shed agreed to work with us on this project and would like to thank them for their great work in providing these bug homes. These now offer an amazing opportunity for children to actively watch and learn from real wildlife activities right on their doorstep.”
