Agents Do Charity - community care

Agents have been showing there is more to being charitable than just donating money.

This weeks charitable exploits have a big focus on support specific groups and communities.

Whatever the cause you are working for, we would love to help.

Keller Williams: Keller Williams UK (KWUK) has appointed an armed forces champion.

It is part of a new commitment from the agency brand to focus on helping those who serve or have served in the armed forces.

Paul Renton, KWUK director of  growth and development and an RAF veteran has been appointed to the role and will help develop a network to support veterans including a dedicated KW Armed Forces webpage.

KWUK will also be supporting and promoting armed forces events such as armed forces week, reserves day, the poppy appeal and remembrance activities.

Ben Taylor, chief executive of KWUK, said: “I am delighted to commit KWUK and to ensure that we do everything we can to provide respect, support and fair treatment to those that have fulfilled their duty to everyone in defence of the realm.

“It is important to ensure that members of the armed forces community do not face disadvantages arising from their service in the provision of public and commercial services. In some circumstances special provision may be justified, especially for those who have given most, such as the injured or bereaved.

“We will encourage and support veterans seeking a career to explore working with KWUK through specific mentoring schemes, guaranteed interviews and work insight days.”

Agents Giving: Agents around the country came out in force to support their local food banks and communities last week, getting behind the charity’s annual Agents Giving Day.

The event was supported by The Guild of Property Professionals and Relocation Agent Network.

Agents collected and donated to support their local food banks with thousands of essential food items, toiletries, and other everyday essentials to help local families struggling to cope with the cost-of-living crisis.

The total number of items collected for the Trussell Trust so far stands at the thousands with further donations still being made.

Participants included Dawson’s, Paramount, Thomas Morris Estate Agents, Drivers & Norris, M&M Estate Agents, Thomas Charles Lettings, Grey & Co Estate Agents, The Lettings Partnership, Taylor Gibbs, Highland Solicitors Property Centre, Stephen J Brown Consultancy plus many more agents.

Jerry Lyons: Industry figure Jerry Lyons has been inspired by his young daughter to create a guide for estate agents around marketing to people with dyslexia.

Lyons, of Estate Agent Content, said his daughter was diagnosed as dyslexic last year and his research has found 10% of the population has the condition, which could be a potential buyer, seller, landlord or tenant.

He said: “Based on what I learned and not wanting my daughter or anyone else to feel like they’re being left out, we created a guide for estate agents.

“It’s to help agents make their marketing and communications more accessible to people with dyslexia.

“As far as I can see, it’s a world first for estate agency marketing in the UK.”

The guide covers the dos and don’ts of creating content for dyslexic people, covering areas such as spacing, fonts, writing styles and using other communication techniques such as voice notes and video messaging.
