Agents Do Charity - for the kids

Barratt Homes: Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) recently received a £1,500 donation from Barratt Homes. 

The donation was made as part of The Barratt Foundation’s Community Fund initiative, which sees the housebuilder donate £1,500 each month to a charity improving the lives of individuals in the areas close to its developments and offices.

The money will go towards developing treatments for leukaemia as part of one of the hospital’s ‘Special Purpose Funds’. 

One family that has experienced first-hand the exceptional care provided by Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is the Gribbens, who live locally in Watford close to Barratt North Thames Division’s head office. 

Their daughter, Penelope, aged seven, was diagnosed with leukaemia in February 2020 and was treated at GOSH for two years. Penelope was given the all-clear from leukaemia last June.
Marina Barnes, head of community fundraising at GOSH Charity, said: “We are very grateful to Barratt Homes for their generous donation. The ‘Special Purpose Fund’ means new, kinder, and less invasive treatments for children like Penelope can be developed.

“It really is the future of children’s cancer care, which will come to fruition through our state-of-the-art new Children’s Cancer Centre that we are setting out to build at GOSH.”

Marc Woolfe, head of sales at Barratt North Thames, said: “Great Ormond Street Hospital  is one of the most recognisable and vital hospitals for children in the UK. 

“We hope this donation will allow them to continue providing important support to children like Penelope and it is such fantastic news to hear that Penelope has been given the all clear. It is integral that as responsible housebuilders we support organisations such as GOSH through our community fund initiative and those in the local area to our head office.”

Redbrick Coventry:  Agency brand Redbrick Coventry has been supporting school renovations in Malawi.

The agent has been running fundraising events and annual visits at its own cost to project manage the maintenance and renovations of 20 schools. 

It also supports a local dementia group back home in the UK where staff volunteer.

Agents Giving: Industry charity Agents Giving has announced the much-anticipated shortlist for the Fundraising Champions of the Year Awards 2023.  

Agents Giving said it has viewed many fundraising stories great and small and the winners will be announced at the Agents Giving Charity Ball sponsored by Callwell on Friday 14 July.

The event will celebrate the fundraising efforts of the estate agency industry and will honour those who have made an outstanding contribution to fundraising, charity, and local communities.

David Newnes, chairman of Agents Giving, said: “We have seen examples of truly heartwarming stories of fantastic charity, fundraising and community work.”

Fine & Country: Harry Middleton a partner at Fine & Country Chiswick is swimming the English Channel next week to raise money for Make a Wish and the Fine and Country Foundation. 

He said: “By supporting these two amazing charities through my swim, I hope to make a real difference in the lives of those who are in need. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to live a fulfilling life, and by supporting these charities, we can help to make that a reality.”
