Fisher German has welcomed a record number of graduates this year.
The property consultancy and agency brand has revealed that it has hired 34 graduates this year, along with 10 staff on placement, across its 27 offices around the country in a range of disciplines.
The firm said it is making a concerted effort to find young talent and bring them through the company, which includes hiring graduates from all sorts of backgrounds.
This includes Rob Parry, who did not enter the industry through traditional surveyor courses, but started after studying geography at Newcastle University.
After joining Fisher German through the company’s Insight programme – which gives graduates from non-surveying courses the basics of the profession – Rob joined the lease advisory team in London and has thrived since then.
Rob has since been sponsored to take a Master’s degree in real estate at London South Bank University by Fisher German before taking his senior APC exams.
He said: “Coming out of university, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I initially tried going into recruitment but quickly realised it wasn’t for me.
“I came across Fisher German’s Insight programme and thought it would help me build a career, not just a job. My dissertation was around the housing crisis, so already had an interest in property.
“It ended up being a fantastic decision. Once I’d passed, I secured a role with Fisher German and I haven’t looked back.
“Working in the lease advisory team has been really eye-opening. The team are keen to get me involved in everything they do to enable me to develop my skills.
“I’m now about to start work with the business rates consultancy team which I’m looking forward to.
“Not only that, but Fisher German has also paid for my studies at London South Bank which shows they are willing to support my career progression within the firm. It has been a wonderful start to my career in property.”
Andrew Bridge, managing partner at Fisher German, started as a graduate himself before working his way up to the top of the firm and has always encouraged staff to realise their ambitions at the company.
He said: “At Fisher German, we are committed to improving our colleagues’ career prospects by offering clear pathways for progression and supporting them with important qualifications.
“I know first-hand that you can go far at Fisher German if you put the work in, and this is still true today.
“If graduates have the drive and the attitude to succeed, they will do so at Fisher German, and our record intake this year underlines our commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent.”
