Spicerhaart has boosted its senior team with the appointment of a new managing director within its estate agency division.
Tommy Taylor is now heading up the Orion chapter of the business covering London, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. He joins Dan Ansell, who leads the Taurus chapter, covering the remaining counties where Spicerhaart operates.
He replaces Steve Williams, who left the role to setup his own mortgage and protection business called Ginger Finance.
Tommy, who was previously responsible for Just Mortgages and brings a wealth of experience from financial services, said he wanted to embrace changes in the market and foster a high-performance culture in the team.
He said: “I am hugely excited by the potential this business has and my role is to work with the leadership team to help unlock it.
“The market we have now is different, but I believe one that we are better suited to.
“My priority is to work closely with the business to create a culture that drives high performance and enables the team to make the very most of the opportunities this market brings.
“When the market is difficult, these are the times when leadership really makes a difference, so when your team wins in these times, you should feel extra proud.
“I am passionate about leadership and sales – these as my two greatest areas of expertise – and I know I can make the most of these skills in my new role.
“These are skills I’ve developed over the last 20 years through working in increasingly more challenging environments and I feel well prepared to lead the business through the market we are now experiencing.
“I’m also passionate about coaching and mentoring my team to achieve their full potential and facilitating them to be the very best they can be in their roles.”
Tommy’s time in the property industry began in June 2006 when he started as a trainee mortgage consultant at Felicity J Lord, one of Spicerhaart’s brands, and he has stayed in the company ever since, taking on a leadership role in 2012.
He said his progression was a prime example for others in the company to know what they can achieve.
Taylor added: “The great part about Spicerhaart is that opportunities exist for those that want to work hard, to develop and to progress their careers.
“Because of the journey I have been on, internal progression is very important to me and I want this to continue to be a key part our culture moving forward.”
Tommy’s father was in sales for 50 years, and he says the lessons learned from him have helped shape his career.
Spicerhaart joint chief executive Antony Lark, said: “It has been fantastic to see Tommy’s progression throughout Spicerhaart.
“This is a great role for him, allowing him to showcase his best traits and help us progress even in this difficult market.”
