It’s taking an average of 17.61 weeks to sell a property across Greater London, with some parts taking up to 147 days on average.
Quick-buy firm Property Solvers’ speed of sale tool, based on almost 10,000 transactions between between February 2023 and February 2024, found properties were selling the fastest in London (E3), London (E4) and Waltham Cross (EN7) at 102 and 103 days on average respectively.
Homes were selling the slowest in the Watford (WD19), London (SE26) and Swanley (BR8) postcodes, taking 138.60 days (19.80 weeks) to sell on average.
Ruban Selvanayagam of Property Solvers, said: “Whilst we’re starting to see some noticeable improvements into 2024, the continued pressures on the mortgage sector and buyers' ability to secure the right kind of finance has resulted in delays with sales completing.
“Combined with the recognised ‘snail pace’ nature of the conveyancing process, it’s likely that these trends are likely to remain for some time.”
