Do It For Dom: Around 100 agents met in Northampton this week for an ‘It’s a Knockout’ competition to raise money for the Do It For Dom charity.

Dominic Subbiani is a joint owner of a well-known estate agency in Pembrokeshire, Dom was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in 2017 of which there is no cure.

Relocation Agent Network boss Simon Whale is taking part and is looking to raise £2,000.

Dandara: To celebrate World Bee Day and help provide suitable nesting sites for bees, local housebuilder Dandara has donated ‘bee hotels’ to Hands of Hope charity, nearby The Russetts development.

With over 20,000 species of bee known worldwide, World Bee Day serves to raise awareness of the importance of pollinators, the threats they face and their contribution to sustainable development.

As not all bee species make and live in colonies, bee hotels offer a safe shelter in which solitary bees can lay their eggs. These bee hotels donated by Dandara will be installed at Hands of Hope’s community garden providing nesting sites for bees in the local area.

Amy Wells, sales manager at Dandara South East, said: “We hope our donation to Hands of Hope charity will maintain their interest in beekeeping and pollinator conservation efforts as the community garden continues to thrive with a place for wildlife to nest.

“Dandara is committed to enhancing and maintaining local biodiversity, as reflected in our work towards providing a net biodiversity gain at all new developments. With around 35 species of bee currently under the threat of extinction, we hope this provision of shelter for bees in the local area will provide a fun and exciting way for people to learn about and help preserve biodiversity in their community.”

Mandy Doran, trustee at Hands of Hope Charity, added: “We are delighted with the donation of bee hotels to add to our ever-growing collection of wildlife habitats in our community garden. We host workshops for local children engaging in Alternative Provision, who had great fun helping to install the bee hotels!”

Agents Giving: Industry charity Agents Giving is organising a sector wide charity cycle again this year.

The Great British Property Cycle will take place this October and Agents Giving is looking for 1,000 people to take part in this exciting challenge raising funds for The Trussell Trust.

Agents can cycle in their own time during the month by either hopping on their road bike, mountain bike or static bike in their office or front room.

Participants only have to raise a minimum of £100 per person. You can cycle any distance in your own time, on your own, with family, friends, or colleagues. 

David Newnes, Agents Giving chairman, said: “Join in this October as we collectively ride around the British Isles. Every £10 raised for charity will move us one mile forward on the map of the UK.”

ESPC: Scottish property portal ESPC has announced that it will dedicate its charity fundraising efforts to Scotland’s youth homelessness charity Rock Trust for its 2024/25 business year.

Rock Trust aims to end youth homelessness in Scotland by ensuring that every young person can access specific services to assist them in avoiding, surviving and moving on from homelessness. 

ESPC will support the charity through a variety of initiatives, including offering its staff to volunteer at the charity’s headquarters in Edinburgh’s New Town, alongside supporting its fundraising efforts through a full calendar of planned activities including ESPC’s annual charity quiz night.

Paul Hilton, chief executive of ESPC, said: “As we enter our new business year and being mindful of the recently declared Scottish housing emergency, we could think of nothing more meaningful than working with Rock Trust and dedicating our charity efforts to their extremely important cause this year. 

“Not everyone is in the fortunate position of being able to own a home, or to be able to rent a property without support, but we share the common view of Rock Trust in that everyone should have somewhere safe that they can call home. 

“We feel that this charity is an ideal fit for ESPC and shares our common values of wanting to build better futures and ensuring that everyone can enjoy the security of a home of their own. We very much look forward to working with them this year and we hope that our efforts can help to make a difference to young people at risk of experiencing homelessness.”
