Regional agent going strong after launching during pandemic

An agency setup during the pandemic is celebrating four successful years in business.

Worthing-based James & James opened its doors on 1 July 2020 by two agents with a combined 35 years of experience.

Its founders Jim Bacon and James Brock were worried about their own career as the pandemic struck so decided to launch their own venture and fill gaps in the Worthing property market.

Brock said: “We handed in our notices on 1 June 2020, and remarkably, just four weeks later, we opened our doors.

“From the conception of the idea to the opening of our business in such a short time was a significant achievement. Our hard work and determination paid off as we quickly gained recognition, winning multiple local, national, and international awards within our first 12 months, riding the wave of the Stamp Duty holiday.”

Four years later, it now operates two offices and has expanded to a team of 12 professionals.

Brock added: “Our business has grown to include a thriving lettings and commercial division. With eyes set on the future, we are excited about the prospect of opening a third office. 

"We believe that this journey reflects resilience, foresight, and a keen sense of market opportunity. Our ability to pivot quickly and effectively during a challenging time is truly remarkable.
