Residential lots offered at auction last month fell sharply.
They fell by 10.4% in number, compared with September last year. The number sold dipped 7.8% on a year ago.
Altogether 3,143 residential lots were offered of which 2,377 sold – down respectively from 3,506 and 2,578.
Essential Information Group, which monitors all UK property auction sales, said the fall in residential lots was “a slight surprise”.
However, we’re sure our readers will be able to offer an explanation.

LOL... there's a first - the words 'PeeBee' and 'knowledge' used in the same sentence! ;o)
Anyways - not sure that I can give you the answer you seek... but of course I'll share an opinion.
There are two or three auctions here 'oop North every month - one of them is pretty much a one-Agency affair (with its' thirty-odd offices feeding the animal...), the other two are 'co-operatives' for want of a better word.
Let's just say they do very well out of auctions. FAR better than rolling up sleeves and actually having to try to 'sell' a property.
The sellers. however...
That’s far less now getting undersold then?
Are there regional stats again, remove SE which does not need the desperation of an auction, as the market is strong and then what are numbers?
PeeBee one for your knowledge?
