A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of estate agent Nicole Waterhouse and the attempted murder of her colleague and flatmate Karen Browne.
Hunters managing director Kevin Hollinrake said staff at the agency were devastated. They have laid floral tributes at the women’s flat in York.
Nicole, 32, was a sales negotiator with Hunters in York, and Karen, 23, a sales negotiator at the Wetherby office. Karen was very seriously hurt in the attack at the women’s home on Sunday.
Nicole’s father, John Waterhouse, is a founding partner of Hunters.
Hollinrake said: “Everyone is just devastated. We are a very close business and our thoughts are wholeheartedly with Nicki’s family at this time. Nicki always had a smile on her face and will be deeply missed by everyone.”
He added: “We understand Karen is doing as well as can be expected.
“They are both lovely people and totally undeserving of any of these devastating, tragic events that have happened to them.”
Jeremy Green, 25, of Popeshead Court, York, was remanded in custody at York Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with murder and attempted murder. He is due to appear next at Leeds Crown Court on November 6.
