Facebook property business Property Network has brought in the former head of PR for Rightmove to help it become a ‘portal killer’.

Property Network – formerly Property Place – has appointed Maud Rousseau, who ran Rightmove’s PR for just over three years until 2008.

Property Network claims to be the first Facebook application for property.

Rousseau, who has also worked as a consultant for the Digital portals FindaProperty and Primelocation prior to their merger with Zoopla, is tasked with promoting the application as an alternative method to market property for sale or let.

Rousseau, who runs her own agency Flashbulb and will act as Property Network’s head of PR and communications, said: “Property Place is a fascinating and intriguing business with the potential to become a property portal killer.

“A property social network has the potential to offer property professionals and consumers so much more and is perfectly positioned to disrupt the current duopoly.”

Sohail Rashid, chief executive of Property Network, said: “We are delighted to welcome Maud Rousseau to our growing team. She has great experience in her field and comes with a fantastic reputation for being able to deliver.

“She shares our vision for improving the property sector and is keen to help us shake up a market that is crying out for change.”

Property Network says it currently supports 7,000 estate agents to profile their properties via Facebook.

Any poor sales person can sell cheap, it may be cheap now, but build their strength and bang, it wont be.

Some Honest Feedback...I'm on this and paying £50 a month, our offices are in SE. We were approached by a sales rep who said he was ex-Zoopla in Feb. We are getting some applicant leads and have had a handful of vals which have not converted yet. I think it has potential but certainly not going to change our business in the short term.

PN are apparently charging £50 a month which seems too good to be true. I guess the option is there to put the prices up if it is successful, which I can't see why it won't be, but it's all we have to work with now.

Rightmore are charing virtual agents £740+vat for 50 properties now, Zoopla are charing £599+vat for 60, we will all soon be ripped off by 2 portals, lets hope something else does work, but then they will charge a fortune as well.

I think RIghtmove are hated because they are so bloody expensive, not because of the PR.

If the PR works as well as RM this lot too will be hated very soon!
