A Fine & Country representative has become president of the UK chapter of FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation, and promises to improve networking.

George Betz, F&C’s head of global business development, says he wants to hold more networking events, galas and exhibitions to encourage more communications between members.

He also wants to encourage property professionals in the UK to join FIABCI directly. “We’ll be encouraging members of RICS, The Guild of Professional Estate Agents, ARLA and NFOPP” he says.

FIABCI appears to be into networking in a big way - its website says Christopher Hall, a past NAEA president, is president of the federation’s so-called ‘Networking Task Force’.

The organisation’s website describe it as a worldwide network with 60 member countries and 115 different national professional real estate associations who combined have 1.5 million members. It is open to surveyors, financiers, brokers, lawyers, architects, counsellors, accountants, builders, insurers and investors, and operates across office, retail, commercial and industrial sectors as well as residential.

EAT is a little worried about the volume of paperwork for meetings as its official languages are English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish.
