A group of 20 women from Hunters’ branches in York, Wetherby, Easingwold and Harrogate took part in York’s Race for Life.

Their murdered colleague, Nicole Waterhouse, and Karen Browne, who survived the stabbings attack with serious injuries, would have been running with them.

The twilight run, along the river in the centre of York, raised money for Cancer Research. The Hunters team raised £1,255, surpassing their target by 25%.

Race for Life is the largest women-only fundraising event in the UK.

Glynis Frew, HR director at Hunters, took part in the race and said: “We all signed up to take part in the Race for Life for our own reasons and experiences, having been touched by cancer in one way or another and to raise money for this important cause.

“But at the forefront of all our minds on Friday night were our colleagues Nicole Waterhouse and Karen Browne who would have been running with us were it not for tragic, recent events.

“We ran for our colleagues, for Cancer Research but also for each other.

“Coming together for the race gave all of us strength and support during what is a difficult and very sad time.” https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/support-us/volunteer
