Record-breaking traffic levels on Rightmove are being converted into a record number of leads for member advertisers, the site has claimed.

It says the level of inquiries delivered in February was up 57% compared with the same month last year.

Rightmove director Miles Shipside said: “Whilst it’s great to be listed as the sixth busiest website in the UK, we’re delighted to report a record jump in leads delivered to member advertisers.

“It confirms that the investments we continue to make are not only enabling us to put our member advertisers in front of the largest online audience of home-hunters, but that this audience continues to convert into quality business opportunities for agents and developers.”

Activity on the site is up, with overall page views more than 20% higher year-on-year.

Shipside said: “To see lead levels increase by over 50% year-on-year shows that those searching for property on Rightmove are motivated to move and in a position to follow up on properties that catch their eye.

“As well as overall market conditions improving, many agents are reporting a positive start to the year in their local market and it’s great that Rightmove is able to play its part in this activity.”

Rightmove says it has made over 2,000 enhancements to its platforms over the last 12 months. Particular investment has been put into Rightmove’s mobile platforms, such the company’s iPad, iPhone and Android apps and Mobile Site. It says around 25% of all Rightmove property searches are now performed on mobile devices.

Shipside said: “More mobile innovations are planned for 2013, including a new Mobile Site and further enhancements to our existing apps.”

Rightmove also announced it is to launch a new TV advert next month.

RM "quality leads up 50%" House sales in the uk static for the last 6 years and less than half of 2007? what sort of 50% increases in leads "quality" means that there is no increase in sales?? Quantify quality?

Now what if the headline had read:

RIGHTMOVE TAKES 57% MORE FROM ESTATE AGENTS.

    Isn't that about right?

From my experience of those rightmove leads, most of them were from buyers who pressed the wrong button!

More interest in buying or looking at market prices might mean more leads, but also opportunity to click multiple properties/agents/developers in one go would drive that up, without them being qualitative.

What would have been interesting is a headline that said 'Rightmove delivers cheaper leads year on year' however it didn't and with the need to placate shareholders revenue imcreases don't make them cheaper.

It is starting to show that their search engine optimisation is inceasing so they are pushing down estate agents natural local search opportunities. Feeding the Rightmove machine without any movement from them is self harming agents.

Plenty of digital opportunities out there to deliver lower cost leads, quality monitored and in volume but not the education in estate agent/developer world to know them, so they plump with RM, perhaps saving time, but ultimately tking more of their cash.

Zoopla hoovers up all teh other sites and opportunities and its staff are more and more RMs jumping over so in time becomes a duopoly.

No point in whinging, you have a budget to promote homes, take time to find businesses and solutions that can help.

Mobile, social, ad-networks, pap per click search, Cost Per Lead, telephone call tracking, retargetting site visitors, 3rd party email vendors, and lots more out there which together mean just as much reach and lower Cost Per Lead. All those people who view RM or Zoopla do not just view those sites in isolation, so target them elsewhere, the costs elsewhere are a pittance of portals.

@Mr Grumpy I entirely agree the punters make the enquiry. This is spin and frankly I do not see 57% more leads coming my way.
Tried to argue a reduction in the cost rise or a lower rise and I got pages of drivel from Mr string of vowels man who when chellenged gave me even more waffle and in the end I was told the price is going up and that's that.
RM is a bunch of crooks that we need and they are turningf the screws.

The majority of my Landlords use RM regularly to check rents etc, my staff use RM daily to check competitors performance and rents,my tenantsstill use the RM telephone number months after taking the tenancy. I reckon RM gets at least 20 hits a day from my "non interested only looking" users. Multiply this by all the Agencies in the UK and discount the figures to give a true reflection of hits. If they are so good why are they embarking on another TV campaign other than to use up this years inflation busting fees charges they are about to receive next month.

rightmove didnt generate the enquiries , customers/potential buyers did, all that rightmove did was host the listings , any site with the same volume of properties listed would have seen the same lift in leads.

Potential buyers are on the increase - is the only message that is worth noting here.

As stocks are low , I predict a tendency for agents to get a bit more optimistic with their valuations and Rightmoves next comment will be asking prices are higher . Hopefuly we will see more sellers coming forward.

I think this must be good news?

Mobile search are only up 25% because MY WIFE spends most of her time searching using MY iPAD! Which reminds me: would the agent in East Grinstead (who shall remain nameless, but sounds like "Punters"), please advertise the fact that the back door of a house with 4 acres in Dormansland is actually within 10 yards of a mainline railway!

Your Ratner moment? Please explain why this is positive and RM need congratulating? Surely if you have bothered to listen to Julian's training you will realise that it is the quality of applicants that count rather than the quantity.

Perhaps this is just you schmoozing the wallet!

Can your business afford to be so pro Rightmove when you know damn well the sort of reaction this story is going to receive once Agents get to work?

Perhaps you don't care as long as you are sideled up with RM and their plans for the future of Agency in the UK

How many of you Agents will read this as anything other than PR nonsense.

Hits, page views, click through, even leads it is all PR spin that means nothing other than a means to convince agents to part with more cash, boost Rightmove SEO and Rightmove awareness.

At least 20 million people see the confused .com advert every day, 20 million people are not visiting Confused even once during the year let alone buying car insurance via confused.

Direct line does very nicely thank you without needing to be on a single comparison site so the question is Is your agency a confused sort of Agency or more of a direct agency dealing with the public who know you for your service and reputation?
