Winkworth has announced the launch of a China desk, based at its offices in Mayfair, to capitalise on the strong and growing interest in the London residential property market from Chinese buyers.

Ice Wang has joined Winkworth to run the desk.

Winkworth said its central London offices have experienced a significant influx of interest from Chinese buyers.

The Kensington and South Kensington offices, for example, reported a rise of 10-15% in Chinese inquiries in the first half of the year, with buyers typically looking for new-build properties valued at around £1.5m.

Ice Wang came to the UK in 2001 to study Actuarial Science at Cass Business School. After graduating, she worked for a consultancy firm offering a property finding service for expatriates all over the world, before she moved to become a property fund data analyst in the City.
