The internet domain name of the online estate agency Houses.co.uk has been put up for sale at a budget price, less than two years after the site launched.
The sale was spotted by the independent property guide website www.sellingup.com which reports that the domain name was purchased several years ago by Peter Thornton, a car rental entrepreneur who set up the agency with high street estate agent Russell Bennett of Quirk Deakin in Essex.
The purchase price then was reportedly £40,000 - it now appears to be on sale for £2,999.
It had apparently earlier been on sale on domain marketplace auction website Sedo for a reserve price of between 25,000 and 49,999 Euros - but it did not sell.
Estate Agent Today has attempted to contact Houses, but without success.
However, Bennett is reported by SellingUp to have said that Houses.co.uk was no longer functioning day-to-day as an online agency because he was “too busy” with his high street business and Thornton had too little time to work on the venture.
Bennett’s agency Quirk Deakin used to be owned by Anthony Quirk and cousin Russell Quirk - the high profile chief executive of eMoov.
