An estate agent accused of being behind a £300,000 fraud has appeared before Carlisle Crown Court.
The Cumbrian News & Star local newspaper reports that Donald George Scott, 61, from Bolton Low Houses, near Wigton, made a brief appearance.
Scott, of the Wigton-based Donald Scott Land & Estate Agents, spoke only to confirm his name and no pleas were entered to the 16 counts he is charged with.
He faces five charges of forgery and 11 counts of fraud by abusing his position as a land agent.
The court heard legal discussions about the case and it was adjourned until November 20 for a hearing at which a plea can be entered.
The newspaper reports that Scott was released on bail.
