Only 14 complaints about 'quick sale' buying firms in two years, says TPO

There were only 14 complaints to The Property Ombudsman about so-called 'quick sale' firms - the professional buying companies that purchase homes of people rapidly in a bid to avoid chains collapsing.

In an interview with The Times, TPO Katrine Sporle, said that in 2014 there were only eight complaints about such companies and in 2015 there were only six such complaints - none of the complaints was upheld. Data for 2016 is not yet available.

In 2013, following a report into quick-sale companies by the Office of Fair Trading, TPO worked with a number of the professional buying firms to create the National Association of Property Buyers.

"These firms follow an official code of conduct and any unhappy seller can complain to TPO and potentially receive compensation, just as anyone unhappy with an estate or letting agent can complain" explains Sporle.
