The Property Ombudsman scheme has taken action against another six rogue agents in recent days, bringing the total number expelled this year - or having previous expulsions extended - to 35.
The latest announcements, made on the TPO website, concern Oscar Jones Residential in London, House Sales and Rentals in Liverpool, Lawrence Property Consultants in Coventry, and Bower & Bower in Exeter; these have all had previous expulsions from the scheme extended.
Additionally CityWest at Hounslow and Delta Homes at Ilford have also been expelled recently.
In all six cases this month, the reason for expulsion has been the failure of the agencies concerned to honour the payment of a compensation award made by TPO.
The full list of this year’s expulsions can be seen here - Bower & Bower appears twice on this list, in June (when it was originally expelled for two years) and this month, when it was expelled for a further two years.
In all of this year’s expulsions, the reason was the agency’s failure to pay the compensation that was awarded.
Companies expelled from TPO cannot operate legally; membership of a redress scheme is a statutory requirement and they can be fined up to £5,000 for non-compliance.
