MPs will next month debate a Bill which aims to have the energy efficiency of all UK homes brought up to Energy Performance Certificate level C or higher by 2035 - or 2030 for some homes considered ‘fuel poor’.
Conservative MP Sir David Amess is behind the Domestic Properties (minimum energy performance) Bill which earlier this week was supported by MPs and now moves on to a Second reading next month.
The measure proposed by the MP goes beyond the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard being imposed on landlords from this April, when privately let units must have a minimum EPC rating of E.
