One of the property industry’s best known figures, Richard Berridge, has teamed up with estate agency My London Home to lead a team majoring on investments, land and new homes inside the M25.
Berridge - prominent on Twitter, where he has for some years been @ResiRichard - began his property career at Mann and Co in 1982.
Since then he has worked as a land buyer, agent, facilitator, developer and investor both in London and the regions, and ran Keith Cardale Groves in Mayfair following its take over by Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward.
A decade ago he joined Residential Land as head of consultancy and in recent years has been an independent consultant specialising in the burgeoning Build To Rent sector.
At the start of his new role at the My London Home business - called MLH Investments - Berridge will concentrate on building a team to focus on acquisitions and disposals of residential investments and developments, and land and new homes inside the capital and within the M25..
“My London Home was one of the first successful hybrids, recognising how agency was changing and it continues to be at the forefront of innovation. The phrase ‘fit for purpose’ doesn’t imply everybody out there is doing a bad job, it simply reflects the fact that the residential investment industry is changing at lightning speed. Much of that is down to Build To Rent which is ripping up the rulebook and introducing the customer-focussed paradigms we are all familiar with in other industries” he says.
The creation of MLH Investment has been five years in the making and gathered pace after My London Home sold its lettings and management wing to Nick Dunning Associates in March of this year.
My London Home’s chief executive Steven Herd, who originally opened the business in 2002, says of the new venture: “Richard’s breadth of experience and ability in the residential investment and development sector is second to none and the team we will build together will be exceptional. This is a hugely exciting time for MyLondonHome and I cannot wait for the next chapter of our evolution to begin.”
