We start with more bad news for the online agency sector as the innovative London-focussed Nested has had to make 20 per cent of its staff redundant - that’s 15 people.
Co-founder Matt Robinson says the news comes after a record year for the firm and after a £20 fundraise as recently as November - but the continuing fall-out from Brexit and the capital’s uncertain housing market have made job losses essential, he says.

On to happier news with Fine & Country saying it’s looking to take on more agents at its new office in York.
It’s manager Frances Bowling says: “The office will be focusing on the luxury property market and providing a bespoke estate agency experience to sellers … We are looking to expand and take on more agents as our market share grows.”

Let’s hit the road to the west country where the Weston-super-Mare based House Fox agency has recruited Lucy Henson as a negotiator.
Lucy comes with 4 years experience, lives in Burnham on Sea, and will be helping House Fox sell property in her local area.

Spicerhaart’s Land and New Homes division, which has appointed four regional new homes managers.
John Munday brings 35 years’ experience to the Middlesex area – and has already broken records for bringing in new business.
Meanwhile Nick Kerry (left) has joined from Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward, bringing 20 years’ experience in land and new homes to the south London region.
In the south west, Emma Cotterill (right) has arrived bringing 20 years’ experience, most recently at Connells.
And Kevin Spenceley, who now manages Kent, brings 15 years’ experience which has already contributed to his area’s record year.
New Homes Director Tom Bateson says: “These high-level appointments have strengthened our already excellent team, propelling us to record levels of new business.”
There’s a key new homes appointment, too, at Linley & Simpson, the independent Yorkshire estate agency.
David Reeves is the New Homes Sales Manager with over 20 years’ experience of the residential and commercial property sector. It will see him launching to market a portfolio of new homes - houses, bungalows and apartments - stretching from Wakefield to Ripon.
“Our team can draw upon the marketing support of 16 High Street branches across North and West Yorkshire - which is key - as well as a purpose-designed marketing suite for all new homes activity” he says.
David transfers to the Ripon-based team from working as a residential sales valuer and negotiator in Linley & Simpson’s trio of North Leeds branches at Horsforth, Roundhay and Chapel Allerton.
Before setting sail for a career in property, David worked on the QE2 - but he shows no sign of being all at sea in his latest role.
-
And one more land-related appointment - this time at Audley Group, one of the UK’s leading providers of luxury retirement villages.
It’s appointed Emma Lords to the land team, helping it secure planning and acquire sites for the Audley Villages and Mayfield Villages brands. Emma joins from Silva Homes where she spent 10 years.
Audley Group’s land team has a 100 per cent success rate in planning applications, so no pressure...

And finally this week, it may not quite be a new appointment but we thought this the ideal opportunity to congratulate husband and wife Sue and John Warburton from Leamington Spa on a remarkable trio of successes.
They have been named Belvoir’s franchise of the year at the company’s 2019 annual awards, have won the company’s gold award for marketing, and a top customer service award. Well Done!
“These awards are testament to our wonderful team and their tireless dedication. The awards add kudos to our business and literally ‘speak for themselves’ when being proudly showcased by the team at valuations and appraisals. John and I are incredibly proud of everything that Belvoir Leamington Spa has achieved” says Sue.

That’s it for now: we’re back next Monday so until then...
