Suzy Lamplugh: brother's new appeal for information, 35 years on

A new appeal has been launched to discover what happened to missing London agent Suzy Lamplugh.

She disappeared in July 1986, aged 25. She worked for Sturgis and Sons and was going to an appointment to meet a client - known as 'Mr Kipper' - in west London.

She was presumed murdered and declared dead in 1994 but her body has never been found, despite many tip-offs and searches.

Now her brother Richard Lamplugh, speaking on the podcast The Missing, says her family will only be able to fully mourn her when her remains are found and she is buried.

“All we want to do is to bury Suze where we want to bury her, not where he wanted to bury her. The trail is starting to get cold, isn’t it? Because 35 years ago [witnesses] are starting to get old. It is never too late, I am sure the police would always be willing.”

He continues: “He must have planned it very well. He must have been grooming Suzy for some time. I just can’t believe that Suze would have just gone off in his car.”

Referring to the circumstances at the time of her disappearance - her car was found unlocked with the keys in the ignition - he says: “This didn’t seem like Suze at all. It was totally baffling to us.”

Convicted murderer and rapist John Cannon - currently serving a life sentence for the murder of a woman in 1987 - has been named as a possible suspect but he denies involvement.

Workplace safety charity The Suzy Lamplugh Trust was set up in her memory by her parents Paul and Diana in 1986.

The charity has been involved in a series of highly-respected initiatives, many aimed at improving the safety of lone female workers.
