Agency awarded local pride honour for pandemic support

An estate agency in Snodland, Kent, has been honoured with an award for services to the local community.

Independent agency was presented with the Pride of Snodland accolade for the support it provides local people, particularly for its efforts during the first coronavirus lockdown in 2020.

The firm’s agents created a leaflet that offered help to anyone who needed support such as shopping or delivering prescriptions during the pandemic.

It put posts out across local Facebook sites offering help and managed to get 7,500 leaflets delivered in one day by volunteers. 

CWB Property’s owner Warren Bowman, said: "When we went into lockdown there was a sense of confusion which turned to natural anxiety among our community.

"I wanted to do something to help local vulnerable people. 

“We spoke with a few clients and neighbours and it was clear there was an issue around collecting and delivering prescriptions and essentials like food.

“We helped hundreds of local people who needed it, and this unexpected but greatly appreciated award is a testimony to the kindness and compassion our team and volunteers showed. 

“It was truly astonishing and showed the community spirit we have in this area."
 

The Mayor of Snodland praised Warren and the agency's work when she presented the award on Saturday 2 July. 

She said: "We are so grateful to you and your team for the hard work and generosity you showed during lockdown and continue to show to make our community a better place."

The agency has been an enthusiastic supporter of the local area since it opened in 2016.

Projects over the years have included an annual Easter egg hunt for the Snodland Food Assist charity and its office being a drop-off point for the My Shining Star children's cancer charity's Christmas gift appeal.
