A three-bed semi with a guide price of £750 and no reserve is going to auction at the end of this month.
The boarded-up property at Port Clarence, near Middlesbrough, is thought to be the cheapest in Britain.
The home is not large and the agent admits it needs some work, but it does have a front and rear garden, and is said to have attracted interest from potential buyers as far afield as Portsmouth.
It is being sold by owners who are also parting with a nearby property which is guided at £1,000. The agent hinted that both might go as a package for £750.
Both the homes will be sold by the Great North Property Auction on Tuesday, October 30, at the Bishops Suite of the Ramside Hall Hotel in County Durham.
Similar houses in the same street would sell for around £35,000.
Port Clarence suffers from high unemployment and crime rates.
Absentee landlords have been blamed for the decline of the area, with some properties being sold on instead of repaired and maintained properly.
Estate agent Richard Watson said: “There’s no reserve price, which is unusual. We are looking for a quick sale and may do a ‘buy one get one free’.
“We believe £750 is the cheapest house even in the current market.
“Let’s face it, you couldn’t get a banger for that – you’re probably looking at a very posh fridge freezer.”
